My name is Naveed Asghar Jan. I am from Pakistan. My age is 33 year. I first diagnosed with schizophrenia when I was 22 years old in November 2006. I was in engineering university in the second semester.

First I want to tell about my childhood. My childhood was not awesome at all. I live for five years of my childhood in a village when my father went to UK for high education. In a village, I experience bullying from people, which I consider to break up in my personality because I was so young. My parents were always distant from me so I was neglected of some sort. So my childhood was full of more negative experiences than positive ones.

On 4th November 2006, I first experience the symptoms of schizophrenia. It was an auditory hallucination and it was abusive. I was so scared at that time. The next day was a very different story. It seems that the whole city knows me and that I am a very bad person and they want to harm me because I am a bad person. I was so disturbed because I feel that this all thing happen in reality. I have no clue what I am ill and neither I heard about schizophrenia before. Somehow my father knew I was talking strangely and took me to a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist prescribed me medicine and then I return to the hostel to continue my study because I did not want to leave university. I did not take medicine because I think it is useless nor doctor told that you have schizophrenia.

So I spent the whole 2007 in hallucinations and fighting with the whole city people. In February 2008, I gave up and told myself that the city people do not allow you to continue your studies so I left the university unwillingly. In 2008, I return to my home where my parents live. There they give me medicine, but again I refused to take it. There I also was fighting the whole city. 2008 pass away, 2009 pass away. In 2010, I started taking medicine and my situation improve and decided to continue my studies and took admission in the university.

At that time I developed so many complications which I think due to I spend so many years in psychosis. I have very low self-confidence. Somehow I graduated in 2006. Life passes on and I take medicine regularly. In 2017, I got admission to the local university and now continue my studies.
